Clark Street Elementary School will get the full POW! WOW! treatment when four artists roll into town – Chris RWK, Jake Merten, Lukas Therien, and Scott Walker. They have the distinction of working on murals furthest from the downtown core where POW! WOW! got its start. When the Clark Street School opened 1954, shortly after the World War II veterans and their families moved into the Curtis Apartments, a federal housing project and just before construction started on Great Brook Valley, another federal housing project. Both project put great pressure on the schools, as 900 children lived in Curtis Apartments and another 1200 children were expected to join them when Great Brook Valley opened.
