Mural on the Portland St. Facing Rear Wall of Hanover Theatre

POW! WOW! RETURNS TO THE HANOVER THEATRE AT 2 SOUTHBRIDGE STREET TO PAINT THE REAR PORTLAND STREET FACING WALL

Its stage has seen the like of renowned French actress Sarah Bernhardt in 1906 to current jazz and pop greats, so it is appropriate that the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts' exterior wall now contributes to the burgeoning visual arts that POW! WOW! Worcester brings to downtown. First painted upon by the Russian muralist Rustum Qbic in 2016, the Hanover Theatre will again host a POW! WOW! Artist in 2018.

Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts gleams as a freshly restored gem in the middle of Federal Square. Portions of the theatre were first built in 1904, but its thorough redesign in 1926 and again in 2008 essentially remade the structure as the most lavish arts destination in Worcester. The recent renovation of the theatre and its continuing series of productions has brought new traffic to a part of downtown that had long been moribund.
