Electric Haze’s Mural on the Corner of Millbury and Lamartine Streets

From around 1926 forward in the historically Polish and Lithuanian neighborhood along Millbury Street, Maurice White operated a shop that went by many names – the Maurice White Variety, Supreme Market, Maurice's, White’s 5 Cents to a Dollar, and finally White’s Department Store. He took over the space shortly have the small Bijou Theatre, which operated at the address between approximately 1910 and 1922, closed and began marking the territory with neon signs flashing the different names of his variety store. In 2013, Electric Haze thoroughly renovated the structure, exposing its interior brick and preserving its art deco-inspired exterior cast stone details.
